Doesn't sound useful as you usually save just 1-3 seconds but you might want to know.

First Year

Strategies to consider in the first year.

In the first year your primary target is to survive the first Winter, you need to stockpile enough Food and Fuel.

Before Unpause

Strategies to consider before unpausing in the first year.

Survey The Map

The resources and fertility you have in your region dictates the direction you want the village to go towards.

Generally Villages can be categorized into:

  1. Farming Village: rich farmland enables crop cultivation and large population capacity.

  2. Mining Village: rich underground deposit enables heavy production and high value trade.

  3. Forest Village: rich woodland enables variety, quick population growth.

  4. Balanced Village: balanced.

Ideally you will want to have at least 1 specialized village by the time you own two region, what matters is that you have at least one rich food source to feed your villagers and one rich deposit for trade, otherwise you're doomed.

Farming village allows you to build and support large city, Mining village allows you to get rich and buy your way out of troubles, Forest village allows you to expand quickly. The best rich resource combination depends on your goal but I would say Rich Farmland with Rich Iron is the best long term, whereas Rich Salt with Rich Stone is the worst.

Purchase Oxen

Click on your starting hitching post and purchase an Oxen.

In the early game one of the biggest bottleneck is that constructions requires Timber being delivered which can only be pulled by an oxen. You have 50 Regional Wealth at the start of the game and purchasing additional oxen that cost 20 is very much worth it.

To accommodate your new oxen you need to build another hitching post.

Place Hitching post

Place the hitching post close by the starting hitching post and place a straight road along them.

This will allow you to have 1 family migration at the start of next month and 2 family migration the month after that.

Place 3 Expanded Burgage Plot

Place 3 Burgage Plot

that is expanded to have the extra living space option and optimal crop backyard size.

Place 3 expanded Burgage Plot

To get the extra living space option you need to plot the width of 4 Burgage Plot then use the minus - button to reduce amount of burgage plot you want.

Tip

Use the construction priority in the building tab to make sure your Logging Camp is built first so you can begin producing Timber. Assign 3 workers until you need to take one out for the Granary/Storehouse.

Usually the plot length is around 46 meters+, that is the length of two Corpse Pit building.

Usually the plot width (times 4) is also around 46 meters, that is the width of two Corpse Pit building.

We will go about optimal plot sizes later, you can just go around that size for now.

This will allow you to have 1 family migration at the start of next month and 2 family migration the month after that.

Those are the known strategies that is proven to work, you can now unpause the game.

First Month

Strategies to consider in the first month.

The Basics

By the end of this month, your target is to secure the starting goods and build housing for your starting families and the new immigrant next month for a total of 6 Living Space, that means build buildings in the following order:

  1. Logging Camp

  2. Burgage Plots (6 Living Space)

  3. Granary

  4. Marketplace

  5. Storehouse

Tip

You can use the Construction Priority in each building construction tab

After Logging Camp is built, assign 3 workers into it until you need to take one out for for the Granary/Storehouse.

After that build 3 expanded/duplex Burgage Plot with long enough backyard for Vegetable Garden.

By then you should have reached the Small Village settlement level, now you should build the Granary, Marketplace, and the Storehouse.

Ideally you should have all that done by the end of the month, but just having the 6 Living Space is good enough.
